About:
Bot Creation is a unique Singapore-based team-building program that centers on the design and construction of robots. Participants build a robot from scratch to do a specified job utilizing a variety of commercially available parts. Teams compete against one another and work together to complete a set of challenges with their robots in this activity. Teams build their robots by selecting choices about engines, MDF chassis, chassis coverings, and electric and electronic equipment from a selection offered to them and matched to their skill sets. After constructing their robots, teams put them through a series of tests to see if they are up to the challenge. Participants also congregate to take in the efforts of other teams and marvel at the fruitful results of their own robotic innovations.
Outcomes of Instruction:
Participating in Bot Creation helps participants hone fundamental abilities including communication, collaboration, and problem solving. As they develop their robot designs, the teams share ideas and feedback with one another. Teams must use their critical thinking and resource management abilities to modify their robots so that they can complete the assigned assignment. While building and testing their robots, teams get experience applying design thinking techniques to improve the robots’ core functionality. The finished robots are evidence of the team’s ingenuity, imagination, and, most importantly, cohesiveness.
